The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has described the successful listing of Kasapreko PLC on the Ghana Stock Exchange as a landmark achievement that underscores the strength, resilience and global competitiveness of Ghanaian-owned businesses.

Speaking at the official listing ceremony in Accra on Monday, June 15, 2026, the Minister said the development marks a significant milestone for Ghana’s capital market and serves as a testament to the growth potential of indigenous enterprises.

She noted that Kasapreko’s transformation from a modest start-up in Nungua into an internationally recognised manufacturing company exporting products to markets across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America demonstrates what Ghanaian entrepreneurship can achieve with the right support and vision.

The Minister disclosed that Kasapreko’s Initial Public Offer (IPO), which aimed to raise GH¢700 million, attracted bids worth GH¢1.73 billion from more than 18,000 Ghanaian investors.

The offering was oversubscribed by 146 percent, making it the largest oversubscription ever recorded by a locally owned manufacturing company on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

According to Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the overwhelming response from investors reflects increasing confidence in Ghana’s economy and growing belief in the future prospects of home-grown industries.

She indicated that Kasapreko is entering the stock market from a position of considerable strength, with the capital raised expected to finance the construction of a new production facility at Adeiso aimed at expanding the company’s bottled water and soft drink operations.

The Minister attributed the achievement partly to government efforts to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence and deepen engagement with the private sector.

She pointed to initiatives such as the Presidential Private Sector Dialogues and other policy interventions designed to address challenges confronting exporters and manufacturers while creating a more favourable business environment.

Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare further outlined plans by the Ministry to accelerate industrial development through programmes including Feed-the-Industry, the forthcoming Agribusiness Policy and the revival of the Made-in-Ghana Fair.

She explained that these initiatives are

intended to strengthen local sourcing, encourage value addition, improve competitiveness and support the emergence of more globally successful Ghanaian companies.

On regional trade, the Minister stated that Ghana continues to play a leading role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in addressing non-tariff barriers affecting manufacturers across the sub-region.

She referenced a recent ministerial visit to Kasapreko’s production facility, noting that observations from the tour informed discussions and decisions taken at the Fifth Meeting of ECOWAS Ministers of Trade and Industry.

The Minister also commended the thousands of Ghanaians who participated in the IPO, describing their investment as a strong endorsement of the country’s industrial future.

She expressed optimism that Kasapreko’s successful stock market debut would encourage more indigenous companies to tap into the capital market and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda.

Managing Director of Kasapreko PLC, Richard Adjei, said the company’s successful listing on the main market of the Ghana Stock Exchange demonstrates the willingness of Ghanaians to support local businesses.

He also paid tribute to the company’s Group Chief Executive Officer and Founder for his vision and foresight, while acknowledging the dedication and commitment of employees, partners and stakeholders who have contributed to Kasapreko’s growth over the past three decades.
